The first thing is to say that I was relieved about this movie' t does what the trailer hinted it can do…..i. E. plays Roy Cohn as the Rasputin character who is 'done' Trump is a complete horror show. While yes, Cohn was certainly (by this description), an extremely morally bankrupt and vile man who helped fuel the fires of hell that now burn so brutally brightly in Trump, he was not' t a used as a scapegoat. Thank goodness Trump was shown to be fully responsible for being an absolute narcissist and arrogant nightmare! He was not let loose, nor was he made to look like a lamb that was whipped into a wolf.

Second, The Apprentice was definitely engaging, well made, interesting and worth watching. I thought the Casting was good and the performances excellent. Far from 'impressions ' or impersonation—Jeremy strong and Sebastian Stan embodied their roles and had clearly studied them well, perceiving Trump and Cohn beyond their appearances. The film brilliantly captured the era and the place, the atmosphere and the political landscape. It was authentic and there were no caricatures of people or settings/times. However, despite so many commendable points, The Apprentice didn’t make a big emotional impact on me……I feel like it was missing something….

maybe it’s just that the people portrayed (except for Ivana) we are so repulsive? On the other hand, I know that some films are meant to be interesting and more research and/or give the audience insights that weren’t there before. Not all movies or stories are told with the intention of evoking deep emotions or leaving traces/changed in us. I have just seen an incredibly moving and 'wow' movies recently, so I’ve been a bit spoiled!I’m sure many people (most!) could give a much smarter and more properly critical review of The Apprentice than I can/have here. . So forgive me if I have missed many important points and considerations.

I’m glad I saw it and recommend it to anyone who likes biopics or movies/books that are character studies. I wouldn’t be surprised if after a while I feel a little more or differently about the movie. I have a feeling it might be one to ‘sit with’.
