The scar on Skye’s knee is shaped like a smile
Synopsis
About to embark on a world tour, global pop sensation Skye Riley begins to experience increasingly terrifying and inexplicable events. Overwhelmed by the mounting horrors and pressures of fame, Skye is forced to confront her past.
Skye Riley: [to the smiling entity] You’re not in control, I am!
In one scene, Skye places a VOSS water bottle on a stone/marble kitchen counter and a sound consistent with something plastic being put down is heard. VOSS water bottles are made of glass, something that is actually specifically highlighted in the film, and thus the audio does not match the action seen.
An improvement over the original (good)
Featured in The 7PM Project: Episode dated October 17, 2024 (2024). Naomi Scott’s performance is exceptional, she is so convincing and totally invested in her role from start to finish – to the point that she elevates the whole film up a notch.
The rest of the cast is good, Rosemarie DeWitt for example, but Smile 2 is very much Scott’s film
The running time is perhaps a little longer than it should be, although to be honest that’s a minor criticism in the grand scheme of things. Much of what is on screen helps to negate any potential (minor) pacing issues, the violence and gore is quite graphic but it’s well done and exactly what we want to see in a production of this kind, let’s be realistic.
Based on the ending, the next sequel could be a lot of fun – let’s hope so!
I will say that this film does have a few cheap jump scares, which I’m not a huge fan of, but much like the previous one, it’s not a notion that detracts from the overall quality of the final result.
