Synopsis
A lonely boy living in his parents’ nursing home explores his obsession with the afterlife through his friendship with an aging wizard. The final film directed by Elizabeth Spriggs (Prudence). Some think the father’s mustache at the party is a continuity error, since he shaved it off that morning.

I lived in England in the 60’s when many of these actors were in their prime
Here they are 50 years later, still working, not the least bit afraid to act or look their age. What a treat for us, and what a treat for young Bill Milner, to act with these greats of British film and theatre. Quite a change from ‘Intermission’ for director John Crowley, but also suitable for an older generation.
See it for the understated acting and the script
Nice, entertaining film about an old codger and a young boy. Anne Marie Duff had a tiny part (the final scene) in ‘Diary of a Scandal’ and a bigger one in a more recent Irish film called ‘Garage’. David Morrissey played one of the main roles in the television series “State of Play,” which is now a movie starring Russell Crowe and Helen Mirren.
