The film was shot in historic Independence Square in Independence, Missouri, which looks like it all year round
Synopsis
Alana Higman, a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan, and her family are competing to win the team’s Fan of the Year award, in a process judged by Director of Fan Engagement Derrick. She’s “happily ever after” with this year’s lineup of holiday-themed romantic movies that you can watch from the comfort of your own home. The locations that served as the Higman family store and Norma and Nick’s BBQ are also businesses the family owns in real life.
The story was so sweet and funny
The square also has Christmas lights, just like in the movie. This movie was pure, funny, heartfelt joy, and it still makes me smile. It was a beautiful love story and a Christmas movie.
I needed this movie in my life right now: a sweet holiday getaway
It appealed to me as a romantic comedy lover, but also the sports fan in me who loves the excitement of cheering on my teams, both my team and my new adopted team. Go Bosses! I also really enjoyed Derrick’s story because he was alone and adrift and maybe a little lacking in a full and traditional family life, and this warm, welcoming and colorful family really appealed to him.
And there was such believable chemistry between these two characters
The writing was excellent and sweet and gently and skillfully brought a few unexpected tears, hearty laughs and the occasional audible “awwwww” to my lips. The performances by Hunter King and Tyler Hynes were flawless, real and funny, and we felt so much energy and connection from both of them as they brought their characters to life. This film was also so beautifully enhanced by the supporting cast who really brought depth and color to this beautiful story.
